Our research indicates a far greater percentage of our guests stay sober from drugs and alcohol than the published averages of conventional drug and alcohol treatment centers. In fact, of those Discovery Place guests who participate thoroughly in our program, over half remain sober. This means a 3 times better result for the patients who attend traditional drug and alcohol treatment center for 30 or fewer days.

We think we get better results because we keep it simple. In the first 30 days of drug and alcohol recovery, we don't clutter the message of Alcoholics Anonymous 12 step recovery process with other messages. Certainly, many other factors play a part in understanding why a person becomes addicted to alcohol or drugs. We believe these are very important to eventually understand. But, in our view, the first critical days and weeks of recovery are vitally important. Once a man hits "rock bottom" we believe the change in a man's attitude and outlook about life is necessary to quit drinking alcohol and using drugs. We believe this is best brought about by immediate intense instruction in the Alcoholics Anonymous 12 steps of recovery delivered by uniquely qualified guides who are themselves living happy and useful lives in recovery.
