Family Matters Program
Alcoholism and drug addiction are a family disease. Family members suffer greatly from the effects of drug and alcohol addiction. Participation in the Family Matters Program can lessen the effects of addiction of drugs and alcohol on both the family members and the guest. Very often, the impact on the family is not fully understood by either the family members or the guest, which can negatively impact the family member's attitudes and behaviors towards guest. Yet, it is critically important to understand what the guest is going through to truly initiate the recovery process in both parties. This is why, Discovery Place offers an individually tailored Family Matters Program for every guest.
From the moment guests arrive, the healing process begins towards recovery from addiction to drugs and alcohol. Our Family Director meets with the Guest for insight into their family dynamics. Following this meeting, the Family Director contacts the family, and encourages the family to participate in the family program.
This decision to involve the whole family in the process of recovering from drug and alcohol addiction is one that should be given serious consideration. Drug and alcohol addiction is best defeated with the full support of the family. Participation in the Family Matters Program is included in the 30-Day program fee and is held one Saturday every month.
