My name is David Self and my sobriety date is April 9, 1991. I have worked in the retail fabric business most of my life. In 1989 a friend of mine had quit drinking. I used to drink with this guy and it was hard to believe. In 1991 I got to the point I knew I needed help so I called him. He took me to my first meeting and I admitted that I was an alcoholic. The weight of the world had been lifted. I am fortunate to have been blessed with a great sponsor who kept me on the right track. I changed my old playgrounds and playmates and developed new friends and a new purposeful life. Early in 2005 two friends of mine told me that a secretary was needed here at Discovery Place. I took the position and feel today that I am working God’s Will for me. I am truly happy and grateful to be here today.
