East Nashville Intervention Project
Discovery Place became involved with a major initiative undertaken by Metro police department in March of this year. The East Nashville Intervention Project has as its goal "To improve the quality of life for all the residents of the N. 2nd Area in East Nashville by employing a comprehensive, collaborative, strategic approach to end street level drug sales". In accomplishing this goal the law enforcement community is willing to assist those nonviolent suspected drug dealers, who wish to stop dealing and turn their lives around with alcohol and drug treatment and other life skills needed to achieve a productive and fulfi lling life. Their strategy combines "soft" pressure from families and community with the "hard" threat of aggresive, ready-to-go criminal cases.
Discovery Place was excited to receive their first guest from this program last March. David W. and his family participated in our residential and family programs for 30 days. David commenced and returned to his community clean and sober. We are looking forward to celebrating his progress as a part of our Continuing Care Program.
God Bless you David.
